The Random - Do It Like You Mean It

'Do It Like You Mean It' by The Random is a stunning piece of modern 'light' rock. The Random do the melodic rock thing extremely well; they inject just enough attitude into their songs to give them a real cutting edge sound. The Random definitely 'Do It Like You Mean It'!!
Here we have an exciting prospect in The Random. I initially thought they'd be more punk than anything - how wrong was I? The Random do kick-ass melodic rock using big hooks and memorable choruses that can catch you unawares and sink their barbs deep into your mind. Combining intelligent, mature writing and amazing individual and group performances The Random make 'Do It Like You Mean It' an album to remember. Their ballsy way of getting their rockin' tunes out is stunning. There's loads of variation on the album and it's an extremely listenable release. Until this album I'd only heard the single, 'Tonight', lifted from it; I heard something I liked at that time and needed to hear more of the same. Well, here's that more! And, I have to say, 'Do It Like You Mean It' is actually far better than I had hoped. With hints of Oasis indie, touches of Beatles ballads and just a smidge of nu-punk aggression and reality, The Random up the indie/rock ante big style. This is a 'massive' album! The Random have a beautifully rounded sound and although they can be pretty raunchy and energetic when needed ('Do It Like You Mean It'), they can also be very laid back and subtle ('By My Side'). As I said earlier, the variation of dynamics and emotions that The Random take you through with this superb album is pretty staggering. 'Do It Like You Mean It' by The Random is a masterpiece of contemporary rock music. Truly worthy of massive success, The Random show, with 'Do It Like You Need It' that British rock, in all its many guises, is absolutely alive, kickin' and doin' very well. T'riffic!!! |
